The Staff Accountant will apply knowledge of accounting techniques and principles to standard accounting functions, with a focus on Accounts Payable, Job Costing, and Financial Analysis. This position involves problem-solving skills, high attention to detail, and a discretionary mindset

Essential Functions: 

Accounts Payable:

Assist Accounting Manager as needed, including but not limited to: 

  • Billing
  • Reconcile and post AR batches
  • Issue purchase orders and maintain vendor relationships 
  • AP data entry in Great Plains
  • Ensure correct GL classifications are used 
  • Perform credit card and bank reconciliations 
  • Issue vendor payments via check, ACH, wire, and/or corporate credit card 
  • Manage postage retainer accounts with presort partners 
  • Monitor intercompany balances 
  • Cross-train across areas of accounting
  • Handle (and research) client and internal questions/issues
  • Cash receipts
  • Research on postage issues/application
  • Sales/Use Taxes 
  • Cash Receipts
  • Concur – pull files, approve, and post entries


  • Assist in month-end and year-end close process, variance explanations of expenses, and financial statement review with Accounting Manager
  • Generate monthly sales reports for internal management staff
  • Understand job costing and how all departments affect profitability for company
  • On-going training as backup for other associates in department when out of the office
  • Assist in annual budget planning and preparation process with Accounting Manager

Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree (not required)

Required Experience

  • 3-5 years’ experience working in an Accounting environment 
  • Moderate level of experience with Excel 
  • Microsoft Dynamics Great Plain Experience (Preferred not required)
